Wyoming Judicial Learning Center Construction Set to Begin

The Wyoming Supreme Court is pleased to announce the initial fundraising goal for the new Wyoming Judicial Learning Center has been reached. The Wyoming State Bar Foundation and the Supreme Court have worked together to raise funds for a Judicial Learning Center to be built in the Supreme Court. The Center will offer visitors of all ages a stimulating and exciting way to learn about our state’s judicial system and the rule of law. Interactive and engaging exhibits will enhance understanding about rights, freedoms and the role of courts in Wyoming.

In 2014, the Wyoming Legislature appropriated $280,000 for the Learning Center. Construction could begin as matching funds were received from other sources. The Wyoming State Bar Foundation has raised funds from private donors and the Supreme Court has raised funds from eligible publically available grants. Through this collaborative effort the initial fundraising goal has been met and construction on the infrastructure for this innovative project is set to begin in May 2015. The Court wants to thank the Wyoming State Bar Foundation for its collaboration and wishes to thank the Wyoming State Legislature, the Wyoming State Bar Association, the University of Wyoming History Department, past bar presidents, local bar associations across the state, attorneys, volunteers, Judicial Learning Center Advisory Board and subcommittee members, and the grantors and private donors who contributed time and money to support the first phase of this project.

“I want to extend a special thank you to all the volunteers who have worked tirelessly to make the first phase of this project a reality. We have reached this important milestone because of your efforts,” emphasized Chief Justice Burke. Similar statements were shared by Justice Kite who said, “This initial goal has been achieved as a direct result of the incredible commitment from supportive people and organizations throughout the state. I deeply appreciate the time and efforts of all those who have contributed to this historical project and look forward to working with you in the future to complete the fundraising effort and see the Wyoming Judicial Learning Center come to fruition.”

The Wyoming State Bar Foundation will continue to accept private donations and the Supreme Court will continue to apply for eligible grants to complete the Learning Center.
